ZZ Top tickets & concert schedule

ZZ Top are regarded as veterans of blues rock, especially in the Southern Central area of the USA, characterized by their boogie and Southern rock style. The group was created by Billy Gibbons (guitar, vocals), Lanier Greig (bass) and Dan Mitchell (drums), in Houston, Texas, in 1969, but after the release of their first single, the latest two were replaced by Billy Ethridge and Frank Beard respectively. Dusty Hill took Beard’s place later and ZZ Top made their first contract.

With Gibbons writing most of their lyrics, the trio’s first album named “ZZ Top’s First Album” came out in the beginning of 1971 and it was followed by “Rio Grande Mud” in April of 1972. Their first success came with 1973’s “Tres Hombres”, which entered at the eight place of the charts in the USA, with the song “La Grange” to separate (it became on their most famous songs). “Fandango!” was their fourth album that also reached the top ten of the charts, including the hit “Tush”, while half of the songs were live recordings. The group recorded two more albums in the 70’s and toured in many countries mainly in the USA.

After the release of the album “El Loco” in the summer of 1981, the trio’s next albums were the most commercially successful in their history. First was 1983’s “Eliminator” which became Diamond later (it is ZZ Top’s album with the most sales) in the USA and Canada. The album contains three of the group’s most popular songs, “Gimme All Your Lovin'”, “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Legs”, the video of which was awarded as the “Best Group Video” in the MTV Video Music Awards. “Afterburner” that was released in 1985, reached the group’s highest position to the charts (no. 4) and contained among its hits the songs “Sleeping Bag” and “Stages”. The tenth studio album named “Recycler” came out in 1990, including the songs “My Head’s in Mississippi” and “Doubleback”.

Until the end of the 90’s, ZZ Top released first their most successful compilation album, the 1992’s “Greatest Hits” and another three studio albums. 1994's “Antenna”, which became platinum in the USA and contained the song “Pincushion”, 1996's “Rhythmeen” and “XXX” which wasn’t successful. After the album “Mescalero” in 2003, ZZ Top’s activity was reduced, while they managed to enter at the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” in 2004. The group’s more recent album is “La Futura”, that came out in 2012 and was positively received, peaking at the sixth place of the album charts. They followed several tours from 2015 to 2017, while they’ll return on stage in 2019.
