Volbeat tickets & concert schedule

Volbeat were created in 2001, in Copenhagen, by the former member of the death metal band Dominus Michael Poulsen (vocals, guitar). The first formation consisted of Teddy Vang (lead guitar) who was replaced by Franz Gottschalk later, Anders Kjølholm (bass guitar) - the latest two were also members of Dominus - and drummer Jon Larsen.

The group’s first album “The Strength/The Sound/The Songs” came out in September of 2005. It was a success in Denmark and Volbeat gained fans through their live appearances. Before the release of their second album, Thomas Bredahl replaced Gottschalk in 2006 and “Rock the Rebel/Metal the Devil” came out in February of 2007, topping the Denmark album charts. The group continued the live performances, including appearances next to great bands like Metallica and Megadeath. Their next album was 2008’s “Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood” which also became no. 1 in both Denmark and Finland, with the song “Still Counting” reaching the first position on the US Mainstream Rock chart. It was followed by 2010’s “Beyond Hell/Above Heaven”, which became Volbeat’s third no. 1 album in their country in a row and the first that managed to enter the American charts. It contained three songs that entered the US Mainstream Rock chart, two of them in the first place.

After a series of live shows and fests from 2010, Volbeat continued with Hank Shermann as a touring member, after Bredahl left the group in 2011. They shared the stage with big metal bands and they hired Rob Caggiano as the new guitarist in 2013. “Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies” came out in April of that year and apart from reaching the first position in Denmark again, it peaked at no. 9 on the US album charts. Among its hits were the songs “The Hangman's Body Count” and “Lola Montez”.

In 2015 Kjølholm left the group, while Kaspar Boye Larsen became the new bassist, a few months later. Their most recent album is 2016’s “Seal the Deal & Let's Boogie”, with the song “The Devil's Bleeding Crown” to separate. The album topped the Danish charts for the fifth time and reached no. 4 in the USA. Volbeat’s sound is something between heavy metal and hard rock, with groove metal and rockabilly elements.
