Vampire Weekend tickets & concert schedule

Vampire Weekend’s history began in 2006, in New York City, when Ezra Koenig and Chris Tomson started rapping together under the name “L’Homme Run”, during their college years. They created the group along with bassist Chris Baio and keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij and they made their first live appearances. When they finished their studies, the quartet began working on its first album.

The group followed The Shins on a tour in the UK in November of 2007 and a few months later they performed in a couple of American TV shows. “Vampire Weekend” came out in the beginning of 2008 and managed to reach second place on the US Independent Albums chart. It was followed by “Contra” two years later which topped the Billboard charts, including the songs “White Sky” and “Cousins”. Vampire Weekend appeared in MTV Unplugged live show in 2010 and later they toured around Europe, USA and Canada, taking part in several festivals.

The group’s next album was 2013’s “Modern Vampires of the City”, which also reached the top of the US album charts. It had a more indie rock sound compared with the previous one, with art-pop elements. After a series of live performances, Batmanglij left Vampire Weekend in the beginning of 2016, while the group had started recording their next album. The remaining trio took a break, while Koenig continued writing songs and Batmanglij participated in a few recordings. The group returned for several fests in 2018, with various tour members. Vampire Weekend’s next album is being expected in May of 2019, under the name “Father of the Bride”.

In 2012, Vampire Weekend took part in Barack Obama’s campaign along with other important artists such as Alicia Keys and Jay-z. More than two years later, they won the “Best Alternative Music Album” Grammy Award for “Modern Vampires of the City”.
