The Head and the Heart tickets & concert schedule

The Head and the Heart were created in 2009 in Seattle, Washington, by musicians who used to attend open mic events at small pubs in the northwestern area. When Jonathan Russell met Josian Johnson (both vocalists, guitarists e.t.c.), they found also Kenny Hensley (piano, keyboards), and Charity Rose Thielen (violin, guitar) and started the band. They were joined by Tyler Williams (drums) and later by Chris Zasche (bass) later.

The Head and the Heart’s music style is between indie folk and rock with pop elements. Their first and homonymous album came out in April of 2011, after they toured around the USA and Europe, playing as a support act for bands and artists such as Vampire Weekend, Dave Matthews, The Decemberists, Death Cab For Cutie and others. The second album was “Let’s Be Still”, which came out in October of 2013, topping the US Folk Albums chart. It entered also the top ten on the US album charts, selling over 200.000 copies. They continued touring in 2014, while Thielen collaborated with other artists like Mavis Staples.

The band began writing and recording staff from 2015, while Johnson decided to leave the group temporarily in 2016, in order to focus on his drug addiction problems. Matt Gervais (who had married Thielen) took his place and the album “Signs of Light” came out in September of 2016. It peaked at no. 5 on the US album charts, including the hit “All We Ever Knew”. In 2017, The Head and the Heart appeared in a lot of big festivals including Coachella and Lollapalooza, while their fourth album came out in May of 2019, under the name “Living Mirage”. Also, a lot of their songs have been featured in famous movies and TV-shows, such as “How I Met Your Mother”, “The Good Doctor”, “Sons of Anarchy”, “Silver Linings Playbook” and other.
