Tame Impala tickets & concert schedule

The name Tame Impala was first used by musician Kevin Parker, as a psychedelic rock and pop project, in 2007. Parker was born in Sydney, Australia, in 1986 and he has South African descent from his parents, who broke up when he was three and he went to live with his father, outside Perth. He loved music from a very young age and he began learning guitar with the help of his father. He dealt with other instruments later and he became a multi-talented musician later. He created his first band in 2005, which later became Tame Impala.

In the beginning, Parker used to record his first songs at his home and uploaded them in social media. He made his first contract in the summer of 2008 and Tame Impala’s first EP came out in September of that year, under the name “Tame Impala H.I.T.S. 003”. It contained the song “Half Full Glass of Wine” which became popular in Australia. It was followed one month later by “Tame Impala”, the band’s second EP, which was released by another label and included four new songs, reaching no. 10 on the ARIA charts. After that Impala toured with bands such as The Black Keys and MGMT and after the release of their first single “Sundown Syndrome”, the touring band took part in an Australian tour in 2009.

2010’s “Innerspeaker” was Impala’s first album, which peaked at the fourth position on the Australian album charts. Impala toured in the USA as a supporting act to MGMT, while they appeared in various live events and fests around Europe, Australia, Canada and the USA. The group won its first music award at the J Awards of 2010. Their second album “Lonerism” came out in October of 2012, almost one month after Parker’s participation in the Melody Prochet’s homonymous album. “Lonerism”, which won another J Award, entered at the US Billboard album charts (no. 34), with the song “Elephant” to separate and was nominated for a Grammy in 2014. Between 2012 and 2013, the band followed a worldwide tour and they recorded later their third album named “Currents”, that came out in July of 2015. The album, apart from its psychedelic music style, contains also disco, electropop and R&B elements. It topped the Australian charts and managed to reach the fourth position in the USA.

In the following years, Parker dealt with various projects and in 2018, Tame Impala cooperated with artists like Travis Scott and SZA, while they performed live in a couple of live events.
