Slipknot tickets & concert schedule

Slipknot started in 1995, when Michael Shawn Crahan (custom percussion) and bassist Paul Gray, decided to create a new music group, under the name Pale Ones, in Des Moines, Iowa. They were joined by Anders Colsefni (vocals) and Donnie Steele (guitars), while later, Joey Jordison, became their drummer, being followed by Josh Brainard (guitars). They changed their name to Slipknot and after writing their first songs, Steele left band and Craig Michael Jones (samples, keyboards, guitar), along with Mick Thomson (guitars) became the new members.

Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor became Slipknot’s new vocalist and later Colsefni left them. A few changes followed, until the arrival of Chris Fehn, while Sid Wilson (DJ, keyboards) joined also the formation. During the recording of their first album, Brainard was replaced by Jim Root and Slipknot toured for first time, as members of the Ozzfest in 1999. When “Slipknot” came out in the summer, the band continued touring in a lot of countries.

Slipknot’s next albums were “Iowa”, that came out in August of 2001 (it peaked at no. 3 on the Billboard 200 and reached the top of the UK Albums chart) and “Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)”, which came out in May of 2004, peaking at no. 2 on the US album chart, including the songs “Duality” and “Before I Forget”, with the latest receiving a Grammy for “Best Metal Performance”, in 2006.

After a second hiatus, the band recorded the album “All Hope Is Gone”, that came out in 2008 (no. 1 the USA), with the song "Psychosocial" to separate. The band stayed inactive for about a year and in 2010, Gray passed away by drug overdose. Slipknot decided to continue and in 2011, they appear in various live events, next to great bands such as Metallica and Iron Maiden. Steele returned and dealt with the bass (until 2014), while in 2012, they created “Knotfest” and shared the stage with bands like Deftones and Lamb of God.

In the following years, Jordison abandoned group in 2013 and Jay Weinberg took his place later. Their fifth album “.5: The Gray Chapter” which came out in 2014, topped also the US album chart, including the songs “The Devil in I”, “Killpop” and other. A second version of “Knotfest” took part in 2015, while Slipknot continued touring worldwide. After an almost two years break, Slipknot began recording their next album, that is going to be releases in this August.

Slipknot’s sound is a mixture of heavy, alternative and groove metal genre and they are characterized by their masks and uniforms that each member wears during their live performances. Each clown mask is different and is accompanied by a nickname, depending on the member’s role.
