Rhett Akins tickets & concert schedule

Rhett Akins is a country artist from Valdosta, Georgia, who was born in 1969. He used to play football during his studies but he didn’t finish and went to work next to his father. When he was 11, he created a music group with his brothers.

He liked to play guitar when he had free time and he got married when he became twenty (he became a father but he divorced later). He wanted to follow a professional career and after his appearance in some small local shows, he went to Nashville and managed to make his first contract. Akins’s first release was 2014’s “What They're Talkin' About" but his first success came with the song “That Ain’t My Truck” that came out in May of 1995. It reached the third position on the Hot Country Songs chart and was included in his first album “A Thousand Memories” which had come out at the beginning of that year. It was followed by 1996’s “Somebody New”, which peaked at no. 13 on the US Top Country Albums chart (it also reached the second position on the Top Heatseekers) and contained the hit “Don’t Get Me Started” which topped the Hot Country Songs chart.

Akins's next two albums were “What Livin’s All About” which was released at the beginning of 1998 and “Friday Night in Dixie” that came out in March of 2002. In the meantime, he lent his voice to a character of the animated movie “Tom Sawyer” in 2000, along with other country artists. He released another two not very successful studio albums, “People Like Me” in 2007 and “Down South” a year later, while he collaborated with Dallas Davidson in 2010’s “Michael Waddell's Bone Collector: The Brotherhood Album” which reached no. 47 on the US country charts.
