Pistol Annies is a girl country group that was created in 2011 in Nashville, Tennessee by Miranda Lambert, along with Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe. Pistol Annies' first live appearance was on the CBS’s “Girls' Night Out”, a special Academy of Country Music TV-show tribute to “Superstar Women of Country”, a few months before the group’s first album named “Hell on Heels” which came out in August of 2011. It topped the US Country Album chart, reaching also the fifth position on the Billboard 200 and became gold later.
The trio continued performing live, mainly in Lambert’s concerts, while they also appeared in three live events as headliners, with artists like Blake Shelton and John Fogerty. They collaborated with The Chieftains in 2012 and one of their songs was part of the soundtrack for the movie “The Hunger Games”. Pistol Annies' second album was 2013’s “Annie Up”, which peaked at no. 2 on the Top Country Albums chart (no. 5 again on the Billboard 200). They worked with Blake Shelton in his song “Boys ‘Round Here” and went to a hiatus later since two of the members focused on their solo careers.
Pistol Annies returned in 2017, with the cover of Don Williams’s “Tulsa Time”, while their third album named “Interstate Gospel” came out in November of 2018 and managed to reach no. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart.
