Jone's first EP came out in 2001, under the name "First Sessions" and was followed by her first album named "Come Away with Me", in February of 2002. The album, which is an acoustic pop album with jazz and blues elements reached the top of the US album chart with the hit "Don't Know Why" - a cover of Jesse Harri's original song - to separate. The album, which became diamond in 2005, won three Grammy Awards, including "Album of the Year". In the same ceremony, she gained two more awards along with Ray Charles for the duet in his "Here We Go Again". The album was followed by the also successful "Not Too Late" that was released in early 2007 and became platinum in more than 20 countries in that year. After her appearances in a couple of TV shows, she took part in the movie "My Blueberry Nights" in that year.
