Michael Bublé was born in Burnaby, Canada, in 1975, but he has also Croatian roots. When he was young he wanted to become a professional ice hockey player. His full name is Michael Steven Bublé and when he was fourteen, he began working with his father as a fisherman. In the meantime, from the age of sixteen, he used to sing in clubs, having been encouraged by his grandfather.
Bublé won a small music contest when he was eighteen and he took his first role in a TV movie. He released his first EPs along with two jazz albums, "Babalu" in 2001 and "Dream" next year. After he met producer David Foster he persuaded him to sign with 143 Records. He played in another two films and his homonymous album came out in 2003. It became no. 1 in Australia and New Zealand and entered at top ten in three countries, including the UK. It contains several covers from many artists of various genres, such as "Fever", "For Once in My Life", "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?" and many more.
After a Christmas EP and a live album, Bublé was awarded as "New Artist of the Year" in the Juno Awards of 2004, he played in a movie and took part in other projects. His second album, "It's Time" came out in February of 2005, containing covers mainly of traditional pop songs, with vocal jazz elements. Some of them are "You Don't Know Me", "Can't Buy Me Love" (Beatles), "Quando, Quando, Quando" with Nelly Furtado and more. It reached the top in three countries and entered at the top ten in several others, including the USA and the UK. Bublé won another four Juno Awards and two Grammy nominations. His success was continued with the next album "Call Me Irresponsible", which peaked at the top of the USA charts. It contains covers of various periods, some of them are "Always on My Mind", "I've Got the World on a String", "Comin' Home Baby" with Boyz II Men and others.
"Crazy Love" that came out in 2009, is one of his best-selling albums. It contained the hit "Haven't Met You Yet". After the album success, he toured around the world and in 2010 he won four Juno Awards. In the closing ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Bublé appeared live, singing next to various Canadian artists. After a couple of appearances in TV series he returned to the studio for his eighth album "To Be Loved", that was released in 2013. It was his fourth album in a row, reaching the top of the album charts in the USA. It contains four new songs and ten covers and collaborations with Bob Rock, Bryan Adams, Alan Chang and others.
After two also successful albums, "Nobody but Me" in 2016 and "Love" in 2018, Bublé announced that he would retire from music and he would no longer appear in interviews and live shows, because he wanted to focus to his personal life, while his eldest son had been diagnosed with liver cancer.
