Lenny Kravitz is a multi-talented musician (also actor) who was born in Manhattan, New York, in 1964. He has also Bahamian and Ukrainian descent and his full name is Leonard Albert Kravitz. He was raised by a religious family and he served as a Green Beret in the Army.

He started to play the drums and the guitar from a very young age, while he was listening to R&B, blues, jazz and other kinds of music. He was a member of a choir, he sang with the Metropolitan Opera and he took part in music symphonies. When he was in L.A. he was attracted by the rock scene by listening to many great bands of that period, like Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and many more and later in 1978, he joined a school music program learning to play the bass and piano by himself.

His music career started in 1989, with the release of his first album, "Let Love Rule". He started opening for artists such as Tom Petty, David Bowie and Bob Dylan and he formed a touring band in order to promote his album (he had played all the instruments during the recording). He wrote along with Ingrid Chavez Madonna's top hit "Justify My Love" in 1990 and his second album "Mama Said", came out in 1991, including the song "It Ain't Over 'til It's Over", which reached the second position on the US chart. He collaborated with Aerosmith, Mick Jagger and David Bowie and in March of 1993, he released "Are You Gonna Go My Way" which gave him a BRIT Award next year (best international male artist). The homonymous song won the "Best Male Video" in MTV Video Music Awards.

His next two albums were 1995's "Circus" and "5", which came out in 1998. It contained the hits "Fly Away", that topped the UK charts and "I Belong to You". His first Grammy Award came in 1999, and his second Grammy was for the cover of "American Woman" next year. The song "Again" from the following album "Greatest Hits" gave him the third Grammy in a row.

Two more albums came out in the next years. "Lenny" in October of 2001, which includes the hit "Dig In" (it gave him one more Grammy) and 2004's "Baptism". Kravitz appeared in Rio de Janeiro, for the part of the "Live Earth" event in Brazil and a few months later, his eighth album, "It Is Time for a Love Revolution" came out. He has released three more studio albums until 2018, with his most recent to be 2018's "Raise Vibration", which includes the song "Low" to.

Lenny Kravitz's music style includes various music genres, such as rock, funk rock, souls, blues, R&B and others. He has collaborated with numerous great artists and has his name linked to many famous songs. He has played in several movies and he has also designed the "Kravitz Design Inc." in 2003.
