American artist Lady Gaga, who has also Italian, French and Canadian ancestry, was born in Manhattan, New York City, in 1986, as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. She dealt with music from a very young age, while she used to perform in open mic shows. She took part in musicals and she had her first small role in the famous TV series, "The Sopranos".

After she finished her music studies and songwriting practice, she recorded her first two songs in 2015. He met the American record producer Rob Fusari and later Lady Starlight, with whom she improved her stage performances. She made a contract with Vincent Herbert's label in 2007 and he became her mentor. She began writing for artists and groups such as Britney Spears, The Pussycat Dolls and Fergie.

Gaga's first album, "The Fame" was released in 2008 and became no. 1 in 6 countries, including the UK and no. 5 in the USA. It contains the top-charted hits "Just Dance" and "Poker Face" along with the hit "Paparazzi". "Poker Face" won a Grammy for "Best Dance Recording", while the album was voted as the "Best Dance/Electronica Album. After a tour with "The Pussycat Dolls", she followed her own international tour and she released the EP "The Fame Monster", which contains the top hits "Bad Romance", "Telephone" along with Beyoncé (both no. 1 in the UK) and "Alejandro". The album gained one more Grammy, as did Bad Romance in two categories.

Gaga has entered the Guinness Book of World Records, after having the record of the most music downloads in the USA, for the year 2009. After her second worldwide tour an album with remixes of the "The Fame" and "The Fame Monster" came out, in March of 2010, in Japan. "The Remix" became one of the best-selling in the history of remix albums. Her second album "Born This Way", was released in May of 2011 (no. 1 on the US Billboard 200), including the top homonymous hit.

During 2011, Gaga collaborated with a lot of artists, while she appeared in two documentaries. In the following years, apart from her numerous live appearances in tours, fests, events, TV series and movies (the last is Bradley Cooper 's "A Star Is Born" which won an Oscar for the song "Shallow"), she released another three albums, that all topped the US charts. 2013's "Artpop", which contains the hits "Applause" and "Do What U Want", 2014's jazz album "Cheek to Cheek" with Tony Bennett, that won the "Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album" Grammy Award and 2016's "Joanne", an album with dance-rock, but also country style, which includes the hits "Perfect Illusion" and "Millions Reasons" (the piano version of its synonymous song, gave her one more Grammy).

Accept from being regarded as a pop idol, Gaga has influenced the world of fashion and modern culture, she has taken part in various philanthropic events and has established the "Born This Way Foundation".
