Jenny Lewis was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1976 and before she deals with music professionally, she started an acting career when from the age of seven. Firstly, she took part in advertisements and later in several TV-shows and teen movies.
Lewis made her first steps in music in 1998 when she created along with another three musicians the indie rock group Rilo Kiley. The band from Los Angeles released six studio albums (one was a compilation) until its dissolution in 2014. She was the main vocalist (also playing keyboards and guitar) and she had already started cooperating with other bands and musicians from 2002. She began recording her first album named “Rabbit Fur Coat” in 2004 which came out at the beginning of 2006. It contained the participation of The Watson Twins and other musicians and its highest position on the US charts was no. 6 on Top Independent Albums chart. Lewis toured with Twins and performed with her band in various live events in order to promote her debut album, which was followed by “Acid Tongue” in September of 2008. This indie rock album, with elements of alternative country music, managed to reach no. 24 on the Billboard 200.
Lewis’s third album came out after Rilo Kiley disbanded, during a summer tour around the USA in the summer of 2014, which included many important festivals. “The Voyager” peaked at no. 9 on the Billboard 200, the highest position among her albums. In the meantime, almost four years ago Lewis and Johnathan Rice created a duo under the name Jenny and Johnny and released the album “I’m Having Fun Now”. In 2016, Lewis, along with Erika Forster and Tennessee Thomas created the female group “Nice As Fuck”, whose first homonymous EP came out in June of 2016.
Lewis’s recent album “On the Line” came out in March of 2019, while she continues her acting career until now, including mostly roles in American TV-shows e.t.c.
