Hank Williams Jr. tickets & concert schedule

Hank Williams Jr. is a country rock and blues singer, who was born in 1949, in Shreveport, Louisiana. His father was the famous Hiram King "Hank" Williams and his full name is Randall Hank Williams. When his father died, he grew up with his mother and his first musical influences were famous musicians who used to visit his parents, such as Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino and many others. He studied in Nashville and he used to record his father’s old songs.

Some of his most successful albums were 1964’s “Your Cheatin' Heart”, 1969’s “Songs My Father Left Me” and “Live at Cobo Hall” that came out also that year. Williams Jr. cut off all contacts with his mother and he decided to follow his own path in music. His first attempts weren’t very successful, while he was struggling with alcohol and drug problems. He collaborated with several country artists and after an accident in 1975, he stayed inactive for about two years. 1979’s album “Family Tradition” reached the third position on the US country album charts and from that period, Williams Jr.’s career started an ascending course. His next album “Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound” became platinum and was followed by a series of numerous releases, including many studio and compilation albums, as well as live recordings.

A notable element of Williams Jr.’s successful career was the six consecutive albums that reached the top of the US country charts, between 1984 and 1988. Among his hits from that period and later are songs like “A Country Boy Can Survive” (1982), “Born to Boogie”, “My Name Is Bocephus”, “Wild Streak”, the re-recorded of “There's a Tear in My Beer” which gave him a Grammy in 1989 and many more. Apart from many live appearances, Williams Jr. has participated in many music videos, while he won four Emmy Awards in a row, from 1991 to 1994, for his music themes for the opening of Monday Night Football live TV broadcast.

Williams Jr.’s most recent studio album is 2016’s “It’s About Time”. He is a multi-instrumentalist and he has won several music awards, including six Grammys and many Academy of Country Music Awards.
