Elle King was born in Los Angeles, California in 1989 and her real name is Tanner Elle Schneider. She was raised in the South area of Ohio and began listening to her first music records at the age of nine. When she became thirteen, she started guitar lessons and showed interest in country and bluegrass music.
King lived in various places including New York City, Philadelphia where she studied visual and performing arts, even in Europe (Denmark), until she returned to New York. She had her first role in the movie “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo (by her father) and later signed her first contract later. Her first album came out in February of 2015, under the name “Love Stuff”. It reached no. 26 on the Billboard 200 chart, while it topped the UK Americana chart, with the hit “Ex’s &Oh’s to separate. The song was nominated for two Grammy Awards, while the single “Good Girls” was included in the movie soundtrack of “Ghostbusters” in 2016. Her collaboration with Dierks Bentley in “Different for Girls” gave her a CMA Award in November of that year.
King’s second album named “Shake the Spirit” came out in October of 2018 and peaked at no. 6 on US Top Alternative Albums chart (no. 68 on the Billboard 200). Her music style is something between blues rock, Americana and country, with elements of rock, soul and other music genres.
