Carlos Santana tickets & concert schedule

Carlos Santana is a famous musician who made his first steps in music when he was five. His father started to teach him how to play the violin and three years later the guitar. He passed the Mexico - U.S.A border and followed his family who had gone to live in San Francisco. He didn't continue his studies and later he started playing with several small bands while he was working either in restaurants or as a street performer with his guitar.

One night of 1966, he accidentally took part in a music show playing the guitar with a band and that was the first time he impressed the concert promoter Bill Graham. He created the "Santana Blues Band" later, along with Gregg Rolie, David Brown and Marcus Malone and when he made a contract he changed the name to "Santana". The band's style was characterized by Latin and blues-rock rhythms, with blues, jazz and salsa elements.

Santana released their homonymous first album in 1969, after some changes to the band's members. With Graham's help, they had previously performed at the "Woodstock Music and Art Festival" with great success. The album peaked at the fourth place in the USA album charts and made them globally known. Their second album, "Abraxas", came out in 1970 and became four times platinum, after having reached the top of the chart. The next album with Neal Schon new member was released in 1971, under the name "Santana III". It also became no. 1, including the songs "No One to Depend On" and "Everybody's Everything".

Carlos Santana, due to various problems like music disagreements, drug addictions and other issues, was forced to change the band's formation a lot of times. The following years, Santana released many studio and compilation albums, seven live albums and more. After having met John McLaughlin, they together recorded the album "Love, Devotion, Surrender", including members of Santana and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. It was followed by "Illuminations" in 1974, which included cooperation with Alice Coltrane and a contribution from other jazz musicians.

The next years, Carlos Santana released two solo albums. The first one, "Oneness: Silver Dreams - Golden Reality" in 1979, included mainly ballads and instrumental songs and the second, "The Swing of Delight" in 1980, is a double album with collaborations. His next solo project, "Havana Moon", came out in 1983 and contains apart from covers and other musician's performances, Carlos's father participation in one song. In 1987, the album "Blues for Salvador", gave him almost two years later a Grammy Award, for "Best Rock Instrumental Performance".

"Santana Brothers" that came out in 1994, is the last album that Carlos Santana has released under his name (apart from the albums with the group "Santana") and it is a cooperation with his brother Jorge and his nephew Carlos Hernandez. He continued working with his band, while he dealt with various other projects with several artists.
