Alice In Chains tickets & concert schedule

Alice in Chains were created in 1987, in Seattle, Washington, by Jerry Cantrell (lead and rhythm guitar, vocals), Sean Kinney (drums), Mike Starr (bass) and Layne Staley (vocals, rhythm guitar). They are regarded as one of the most important grunge bands, but their sound contains also heavy metal elements.

After the EP “We Die Young”, their first album “Facelift” came out in August of 1990. It included the song “Man in the Box”, which became popular on MTV. The group supported artists and bands such as Van Halen, Iggy Pop, Anthrax and Slayer. Their second EP was “Sap” which contained the song “Got Me Wrong” and they released their next album “Dirt” in September of 1992. It reached sixth place on the US charts and became four times platinum later. Among its songs were the hits “Down in a Hole” and “Rooster”, while one of the group’s most popular songs, “Would?”, won an MTV Video Music Award in 1993. Mike Inez took Starr’s place and the group continued with the release of “Jar of Flies”, the EP which came out in 1994 and topped the American charts. It contained the hit “No Excuse”, along with “Nutshell” and “I Stay Away”.

After a big tour with Metallica and other metal bands, Alice in Chains went to a small hiatus, but they returned to the studio later and recorded their homonymous album that came out in November of 1995. It managed to top the American charts, containing the hits “Grind” and “Heaven Beside You”. In 1996, Alice in Chains appeared live in MTV Unplugged series, performing some of their best songs and a live album was recorded and came out in the summer of that year, reaching the third position on the charts.

The group returned in 1998 and recorded new songs that were included in compilation albums, with the song “Get Born Again” to separate. In the following years, the group’s members dealt with various projects, while Staley passed away in 2002, as a result of his drug addiction. Alice in Chains reformed officially in 2006, with William DuVall (vocals, rhythm and lead guitar) as a new member. Since then, they have released three successful studio albums. 2009’s “Black Gives Way to Blue” peaked at no. 5 on the US album charts, with the songs “Check My Brain”, “Your Decision” and “Lesson Learned” to separate, while the synonymous song is a tribute to Staley. It was followed by 2013’s “The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here”, which reached the second position on the charts, including the songs “Hollow” and “Stone”.

Alice in Chains' most recent album is 2018’s “Rainier Fog”, which peaked at no. 12 on the US album charts.
