5 Seconds of Summer is a four-member group which was created in 2011 in Sydney, Australia. Their sound is something between pop rock and power pop, with pop-punk elements. The group’s story started when three of the members, Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood and Michael Clifford who were studying at the same college, began uploading in social media, covers of famous songs. Ashton Irwin became the group’s drummer later and after their first contract, 5 Seconds of Summer’s first EP named “Unplugged” came out in the summer of 2012.
The group began gaining international fame and continued writing songs for their second EP named “Somewhere New” that came out in December of the same year. During that period, 5 Seconds of Summer collaborated with several artists and bands like Kaiser Chiefs, Scouting for Girls, Jamie Scott and others. They followed One Direction on a tour as the opening act and later they returned to Australia for a series of live appearances. The group’s homonymous first album came out in the summer of 2014 and topped the American - and not only - album charts. Among its hits were the songs “She Looks So Perfect” and “Amnesia”.
The group’s first tour as headliners was “Rock Out With Your Socks Out Tour” in 2015 and after one more EP, the second album “Sounds Good Feels Good” came out in October of that year, also reaching the top of the charts. It contained the song “She’s Kinda Hot” and was followed by “Sounds Live Feels Live World Tour” in 2016. 5 Seconds of Summer continued the live performances and their third album came out in 2018, under the name “Youngblood”. It entered at the first place on the US charts for the third consecutive time, with the synonymous song to separate. Their most recent release is the collaboration with The Chainsmokers in “Who Do You Love” that came out in February of 2019.
